 MELA DHEEYAN DA  CELEBRATED AT G.C.G, LUDHIANA

 ' Mela Dheeyan Da ' was celebrated amidst much gaiety and exuberance in the college campus of Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana under the able guidance of Principal, Mrs. Suman Lata.  Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Hon’ble S. Bhagwant Singh Mann (Chief Minister, Punjab) was the chief guest and Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur, wife of Er. Manvinder Singh Giaspura, MLA (Payal) was the Guest of honour. Principal, Mrs. Suman Lata accorded a warm welcome to the worthy guests.  She expressed immense gratitude to the Chief guest, Guest of Honour and eminent dignitaries for their gracious presence. She said that it’s a dream come true moment for GCG to have the First Lady of Punjab amongst us as the chief guest. 

  The entire campus wore a festive look with colorful decorations and ethnic festivities. The culture of Punjab prevailed in the ambience. The college girls danced to the tunes of folk songs and swooped in the air in decorated swings. 

  The Chief Guest Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann said that she expressed heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur and Principal mam for the invitation and congratulated principal mam for up keeping and up holding Punjab’s culture and heritage. Marking the importance of today’s celebration “ Mela Dheeyan Da”, she said that every day is a celebration of womanhood. She felt immense pleasure in visiting the heritage home of the college. She extended a grant of Rs. 25 Lakhs for the renovation of the college auditorium. Furthermore, she motivated the students to stay focused and workhard for the realization of their goals.       

 A skit on the theme startup challenge future tycoons, an initiative by District Administration, Ludhiana was also exhibited. The students who got prizes at the State Level competitions in various games were also honored on the stage.  

Various stalls of Bangles, Jewellery, Cosmetics, Suits, Gift items were displayed.  The students enjoyed delicacies like Kheerpuras, Chaat, Boiled  Bhuta, and Ice-cream etc. Several games to enhance the cognitive skills of the staff as well as students were also organized. The college students presented a colourful cultural programme, which included Tappe, Suhag, Punjabi Folk song etc. A Punjabi beauty pageant was the special attraction of the festival. Mrs. Anita Sharma, Mrs. Paramjeet Kaur Passi were judges for the occasion.

Mr. Gurpreet Bassi Gogi (MLA Ludhiana West), Dr. Sukhchain Goggi, Er. Manvinder Singh Giaspura (MLA Payal), S. Kulwant Singh Sidhu (MLA Atamnagar), Mr. Madan Lal Bagga (MLA Ludhiana North), S. Hardeep Singh Mundian (MLA Sahnewal), Mrs. Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina (MLA Ludhiana South), S. Rajinder Singh Khurana, (Director, Technical Board, Punjab), S. Sharanpal Makar (Chairman), S. N.S.K Kang, Deputy Commissioner, Mrs. Sakshi Sahni (IAS), Mr. Shubam Aggarwal (IPS) ADCP-3, Ms. Kritika Goyal(IAS), Assistant Commissioner, S. Anmol Singh Dhaliwal (PCS), PTA members and other dignitaries also graced the occasion with their presence.
