DMC&H proudly announces the launch of the ‘Swasth Nari Abhiyan,’ a pivotal initiative designed to enhance women’s health and hygiene. The program was inaugurated today at the Urban Health Centre (UHC) in Shimlapuri.

The event was honored by the presence of Sh Bipin Gupta, Secretary of the DMC&H Managing Society, and Sh Mukesh Verma, Treasurer of the DMC&H Managing Society. Principal Dr. G S Wander; Medical Supdts. Dr Sandeep Sharma, Dr Bishav Mohan and all the faculty members from Department of Community Medicine and  Obstetrics and Gynaecology were also graced the occasion.

UHC Shimlapuri is a  part of the Department of Community Medicine at DMC&H, plays a crucial role as a training center for interns, undergraduates and nursing students.It serves as a primary healthcare facility committed to delivering accessible and comprehensive medical services to the community, promoting equitable healthcare, and enhancing overall community well-being.

During the ceremony, Sh Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, emphasized that ‘Swasth Nari Abhiyan’ initiative represents a significant step in DMC&H's ongoing dedication to comprehensive community healthcare. Since June 2024, the UHC Shimlapuri has been offering Obstetrics and Gynaecology OPD services from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM,(in all weekdays) with indoor daycare admissions now available. The initiative provides free vaginal deliveries and subsidised cesarean deliveries, along with other services such as ultrasound at reduced rates, free vaccinations for antenatal patients and complimentary blood investigations for antenatal patients.

Dr. G S Wander, Principal, DMC&H, noted that the introduction of Obstetrics and Gynaecology services at UHC Shimlapuri marks a significant advancement in improving healthcare accessibility for women.The scope of OPD services has been extended to Paediatrics, Skin and Eye.

Dr. Ashima Taneja, Professor and Head  Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, remarked, "A healthy woman is the cornerstone of a healthy family and community. The Swasth Nari Abhiyan embodies our dedication to supporting women at every stage of their lives."Further, Dr Ashima highlighted that the Labour room at UHC Pohir has state-of-the-art facilities with an advanced monitoring system, a neonatal care unit and modern birthing equipment to provide a safe and comfortable environment for both mothers and newborns.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anurag Chaudhary, Professor & Head Department of Community Medicine, who operates UHC, Shimlapuri, said that she fully supports the 'Swasth Nari Abhiyan' as it is a crucial initiative aimed at empowering women through preventive healthcare and education.
