Punjab Day Celebrated at Drishti School with fervor

Drishti Dr. R. C. Jain Innovative Public School, Ludhiana, celebrated Punjab Day(Raunak-e-Punjab) with great enthusiasm and cultural fervor , commemorating the formation of the state of Punjab in 1966.
The event started on an auspicious note with the recitation of the Shabad, “Deh Shiva Var Mohe Hai,” setting a spiritual tone for the day’s celebrations. This was followed by a melodious folk song performance and recitation of a poem by the talented Drishtians, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Punjab.
The celebration took a more intellectual turn as students interacted with the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Sarbjeet Singh (President, Sahitya Academy, Ludhiana), in the talk show 'Guftagu', where he shared his insights on the Punjabi Suba movement and the historical significance of the day. The students engaged him with thoughtful questions about his life and career, making it an enlightening experience for the audience.
A highlight of the day was a humorous Punjabi skit, which showcased the unique wit and humor of Punjab and kept the audience in splits. Adding a vibrant touch to the event, the students presented the folk dance Giddha which was met with applause and appreciation from the audience.
Punjab Day is not just a celebration of the state’s formation; it also honors Punjab’s immense contribution to India’s agricultural prosperity, particularly through the Green Revolution, and recognizes its pivotal role in the country’s fight for independence and unity.
The event concluded on a high note, leaving everyone with a deeper appreciation for Punjab’s rich cultural legacy and its significance in shaping modern India.
