Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College,
Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised a 'Talent Hunt' competition with the aim of
providing the students an opportunity to exhibit their skills and talents. The
event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the distinguished
guests, symbolising the auspicious beginning. Then, Dr. Arvinder Singh Bhalla,
Principal of the college, delivered his welcome address. He stated that this
event, marking the start of the new academic year, aims to give students a
chance to showcase their abilities and skills. He informed them of their
prestigious institution's illustrious 100-year history. He said that Gujranwala
Guru Nanak Khalsa College has always strived for the multifaceted development
of its students and has excelled in nearly all academic and cultural arenas.
Addressing the audience, Dr. S.P. Singh, Former Vice-Chancellor GNDU, Amritsar,
and President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council, emphasised the
significant role that educational institutions, such as schools and colleges,
play in nurturing and refining students' skills and stated that the stages of
these institutions play a vital role in honing the talents of students. He
applauded the college's administration and staff for organising such a program.
Following this, ardent and passionate performers showcased their multifaceted
talent in a variety of categories, including dances, music, creative writing,
poster and collage-making, mehndi, photography, on-the-spot painting, bhangra,
debate, and poetry recitation. The worthy judges meticulously judged their
performances and even provided valuable tips to the participants. The event
ended with the vote of thanks by the Dean, Cultural Activities, and Head,
Department of Punjabi, Prof. Sharanjit Kaur. She congratulated all of the prize
winners and encouraged the students to participate in more such events because
it enhances their confidence.This program was effectively moderated by Dr.
Hargunjot Kaur, Associate Professor, and Dr. Mandeep Kaur Randhawa, Assistant
Professor, Department of English. The program concluded with the distribution
of prizes to the winning students. In Rangoli, Meenakshi & Bhumi, Palak
& Himanshi, Mehak & Dishagot the First, Second, and Third Prizes,
respectively. In poster making, first prize was won by Rajat, second by
Hemant Bhatt, and third by Dushal. In poetic recitation, Navpreet Singh,
Himanshi, and Akashdeep Singh won the prizes. Navpreet, Balkaran, and
Sukhwinder bagged first, second, and third prizes, respectively, in
debate. Himanshika bagged first prize in story writing, and in essay
writing, Gurpreet Singh, Mohit, Simranpreet, and Harjivan were the
winners. Jashandeep, Karandeep, and Gurpreet were the winners in
photography. Himanshi, Lovepreet, and Ashleen won the prizes in
handwriting. Amritpal, Harman, and Akash were winners of folk songs, and
Tavgun, Nischay, and Kanan bagged the first three prizes in Geet. In the solo
dance category, Prabhjit Singh, Jiya, and Palak bagged the prizes. Jashandeep
& Ashmeen, Jiya & Gursewak, Navjot & Palak, Manisha &
Komalpreet were winners of group dance. Kiranjot Kaur was declared “Gidheyaan
di Rani.”Winners in Mehndi were Nehapreet, Shifali Suri, and Rani Jha.
Harshdeep Kaur, Pallavi, and Saima won prizes in On the Spot
Painting. Apurav Verma bagged first prize in Still Life Drawing. In
the quiz, Keshav, Divjot, and Suzal bagged first prize. Mohit, Mayank, and
Nikhil won second prize andVasu, Inderpreet Singh, and Kunwardeep Singh won
third prize. Kiranjot, Manisha, and Saima were winners in Mime. All the
faculty members and students were present on the occasion.
