Ludhiana 30 Sep 2024

The Head of the Department, Prof. Amita Thaman apprised the assembled audience about Sh. Keki Daruwalla who spent 6 years in the college while pursuing his BA & MA degrees. Born in Lahore, Sh. Keki's family made Ludhiana their home after the partition when most Parsis preferred to move to Bombay. His selection in the IPS cadre took him all over the country and heightened his sagacity as a cop, and his sensibility as a poet, the burgeonings of which were evident in his poetical compositions published in the college magazine, The Sutlej. In 2019 he visited the college and interacted with the students during the Book Reading Session that was organised. Prof Thaman further said the the loss of Sh. Keki Daruwalla is mourned by the whole country and his Alma Mater has also organised a small event to celebrate his legacy and his greatness.

The principal Prof. Suman Lata said that the college is immensely proud that he was a student here. His service to the country and his literary accomplishments are a source of great inspiration to the youth.

Thereupon a ppt presentation by the students highlighted some key aspects of Sh. Daruwalla's life and career, and his connection with the college. Some students recited some pieces from his poetry. Jatin recited _Bars_ ; Harjot _Migrations_ while Vanshika recited _Fish_.
Prof Neelam Bhardwaj too recited a self composed poem dedicated to Sh. Daruwalla.

The function concluded with two minutes' silence in honour of the departed soul.
