Chandigarh: To reduce the electricity cost of government schools in Punjab, the Punjab government would install 3-KW solar panels in 183 more primary schools at a cost of Rs 2.74 crore. Disclosing this here today Education Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that continuous efforts were being made by the Education Department to further strengthen the infrastructure in the government primary schools. Installing solar panels in schools is a very useful step to solve the problem of electricity and reduce the cost.
Minister Singla said that solar energy is the need of the
hour. In addition to the efforts being made to make government schools smarter,
the use of solar energy in schools will also reduce the power consumption. At
the same time, natural solar energy can be used efficiently.
He said that earlier solar energy projects were being set
up in 3214 schools at a cost of Rs. 97.55 crore. Now with the installation of
3-KW solar panels, 183 more government primary schools in Ferozepur district
would get electricity supply in future.
