B.Sc. (Hons) Biotechnology
students, along with four faculty members, embarked on an enriching educational
journey to Bonn (S.S. Food Industries - Biscuit Division) in Ludhiana. This
visit was designed to offer a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge
facilities and technologies within the biscuit baking industry, allowing
students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the intricate stages involved
in biscuit production.
The students delved deeply into the meticulous
processes, from the careful selection and processing of raw ingredients to the
precise steps of mixing, creaming, shaping, moulding, baking, cooling, and
packing.
Guided by key personnel, including Mr. Abhijit
Ghosh (General Manager), Mr. Rakesh Vohra (Assistant General Manager), and Mr.
Satish Soni (Deputy Quality Manager), the students received hands-on exposure
to various instruments and control systems integral to biscuit manufacturing.
Under the expert guidance of Mr. Sukhpreet Singh (Branch Manager), Mr.
Harminder Singh (Assistant Branch Manager), and Mr. Bharat (Marketing
Department), the students engaged directly with industry experts, enriching
their educational experience.
The visit was an invaluable experience, providing
a rich exposure to industrial operations along with real-world insight.
Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Kamaljit Grewal endorsed
the efforts of the department and motivated for such more endeavours in future.
